Dreams....

Allegra Hicks caftan now available at 50% off

For those of you who missed last night's lecture on "Your Child's Dreams" here is a recap...

Dr. Lennox discussed how important it is to encourage our children to tell us their dreams and to share our own dreams to open the dialog. He stresses that we will all miss out on a large part of our imaginative life, and miss the connection between what is "real" (physically present) and "real" (present in our imagination) if we don't examine our dreams.

Our children's dreams are also a window into their fears. Dr. Lennox feels that we should never tell our children, in response to being told a frightening dream, that "it was just a dream". We need to validate their fears and delve further into what the dream was and may have signified.

Night terrors require a watchful eye, on the part of a parent, but not too much involvement. Be present to reassure the child, and hold them if need be. But, these will pass. Some children will always have a more active dream life. Nightmares, as above, should be discussed and explored.
